Covid-19 e os efeitos nas condições sociais da população idosa residente em áreas urbanas

Abstract

Esta dissertação incide sobre os efeitos do Covid-19 nas condições sociais (socialização e participação) da população idosa a residir em Lisboa, e pretende compreender a perceção das pessoas idosas relativamente aos efeitos causados pela pandemia no Envelhecimento Ativo, tendo como propósito final apresentar possíveis soluções para os efeitos identificados, bem como propor uma intervenção de suporte à prática informada em Serviço Social na área das pessoas idosas para situações semelhantes no futuro, através do investimento na prevenção. A opção metodológica incidiu num estudo de natureza qualitativa, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas e uma amostra por acessibilidade/conveniência, tendo sido o local selecionado o Jardim da Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques, sendo este o campo empírico da pesquisa. A técnica de recolha de informação foi a entrevista não estruturada e realizaram-se 20 entrevistas. Podemos constatar pelas respostas obtidas que a socialização, na perceção das pessoas entrevistadas foi a dimensão mais afetada pela pandemia. Neste âmbito, a maioria afirmou ter sentido alterações na sua vida social, nomeadamente a redução do convívio e o afastamento social como mecanismo de defesa. Destacou-se também o surgimento do campo tecnológico como alternativa ao convívio presencial, nomeadamente através do telemóvel e da internet.

This dissertation has the effects of Covid-19 on the social conditions of the elderly population (social life and participation) living in Lisbon as the scope of the study, and intends to understand the perception of the elderly regarding the effects caused by the pandemic on Active Aging, with the final objective of identifying possible alternative solutions to the effects identified, as well as proposing an intervention to support informed practice in Social Work in the area of elderly people, as prevention for similar situations in the future. The methodology choosen focused on a qualitative study, through semi-directive interviews and a sample by accessibility/convenience. The selected location was the Jardim da Alameda Dom Afonso Henriques, which was the empirical field of this research. All the data gathered came from unstructed interviews wich 20 of them where made in total. While studying the enterviewees answears we can confirm that the social part of the general population's life was the one aspect that was more affected by the pandemic. That's because people used social distancing as a barrier to everything that was happening, wich became an habit. So by that reason, people started using the cellphone and the internet more and more, being notisable the rising of the technological field on people's life.
