Refugiados da Guerra Civil de Espanha em Portugal: A operação de Campo Maior, novembro de 1944

Abstract

Uma operação conjunta, em novembro de 1944, entre a Polícia de Vigilância e Defesa do Estado (PVDE), Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), Exército Português e a Guarda Civil espanhola, levou à captura de mais duas dezenas de cidadãos espanhóis no Concelho de Campo Maior, Distrito de Portalegre. A operação foi organizada pela PVDE e tinha como missão deter um grupo de refugiados espanhóis considerados «perigosos salteadores e comunistas», que se encontravam no território compreendido entre a Vila de Campo Maior, a Referta de Arronches e as aldeias de Ouguela e Degolados.

A joint operation in November 1944 between the State Surveillance and Defense Police (PVDE), the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Portuguese Army and the Spanish Civil Guard led to the capture of another two dozen Spanish citizens in the Municipality of Campo Maior, District of Portalegre. The operation was organized by the PVDE and had the mission of detaining a group of Spanish refugees considered «dangerous robbers and communists», who were in the territory between the town of Campo Maior, Referta de Arronches and the villages of Ouguela and Degolados.
