Do mar à mesa: sigamos o peixe: estratégias sociais e transfiguração do pescado em contexto marítimo e turístico – o caso de Sesimbra

Abstract

Esta dissertação consiste numa abordagem antropológica ao sistema alimentar turístico a partir da transfiguração do pescado e do território marítimo enquanto factores de identificação, valorização e atracção. Trata-se de uma pesquisa sobre o processo de transfiguração do pescado local no contexto do sistema turístico da vila de Sesimbra e no âmbito sócio-económico do seu valor como atracção gastronómica. As transfigurações do peixe são o principal fio condutor da minha investigação e o seu objecto é a vida social de Sesimbra e particularmente a dos grupos e das pessoas em trânsito entre a condição marítima e a condição terrestre com as suas incertezas mas também com as oportunidades possibilitadas por esta circulação.

This dissertation consists of an anthropological approach to the tourist food system based on the transfiguration of fish and maritime territory as factors of identification, valorization and attraction. Given the socio-economic context and its significance as a gastronomic attraction, this research is about the transfiguration process of the local fish in the tourist system of the village of Sesimbra. The transfigurations of the fish are the main thread of my research and its object is the social life of Sesimbra and particularly that of groups and people in transit between the maritime and the terrestrial condition with their uncertainties but also with the opportunities that this circulation presents.
