A importância dos projetos (inter)culturais na integração e inclusão de imigrantes e refugiados

Abstract

A presente dissertação teve como finalidade contribuir para os estudos da aplicabilidade e da viabilidade da interculturalidade em projetos de inclusão e de integração de indivíduos imigrantes e refugiados. Para isto, foram analisados dois projetos com origem em Portugal, o projeto “Mezze – Cozinha do Médio Oriente” e o projeto “Speak Social”, conhecidos pelo seu trabalho com pessoas imigrantes e/ou refugiadas. Através de entrevistas semiestruturadas tanto aos responsáveis dos projetos como aos participantes, depreendeu-se, de uma forma geral, o modo de implementação e funcionamento dos projetos; como a cultura e a interculturalidade em particular foram abordadas por estes; e, por último e mais importante, quais os impactos que os projetos teriam nos seus participantes ao nível da sua integração e inclusão na sociedade portuguesa. Toda esta análise a par da informação e da bibliografia recolhida e abordada durante a concretização do estudo, permitiram concluir que os projetos de cariz (inter)cultural poderão ser, quando bem desenhados, uma mais valia significativa no que toca a apoiar a integração e inclusão de pessoas com histórico migratório, reconhecendo-se, nestes dois projetos em particular, avanços substancialmente positivos neste âmbito.

This dissertation aimed to contribute to the studies of the applicability and feasibility of interculturality in projects of inclusion and integration of immigrants and refugees. For this, two projects originating in Portugal, the “Mezze – Cozinha do Médio Oriente” project and the “Speak Social” project, known for their work with immigrants and/or refugees. Through semi-structured interviews with both project leaders and participants, it was possible to generally understand how the projects were implemented and how they functioned; how culture and interculturality in particular were addressed by them; and finally and most importantly, what impacts the projects would have on their participants at the level of their integration and inclusion in Portuguese society. All this analysis together with the information and bibliography collected and addressed during the study, allowed us to conclude that (inter)cultural projects can be, when well designed, a significant added value in terms of supporting the integration and inclusion of people with a migratory background, recognizing, in these two projects in particular, substantially positive advances in this field.
