O futebol como agente principal na agregação e desagregação de uma sociedade e como elemento nas relações internacionais

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objeto de estudo o futebol colocando-o num plano multinacional e internacional, contemplando diversas vertentes, a social, a politica e a histórica, percorrendo um período compreendido desde o inicio do seculo XX até à atualidade. Consideram-se aqui, entre outros, dois papéis antagónicos, mas também complementares, geralmente considerados como desempenhados pelo futebol que este trabalho tem o objetivo de percorrer: o de elemento fulcral na agregação ou disgregação da sociedade, e o de ator preponderante nas relações internacionais e diplomáticas de diversos países. Juntamente com este objetivo, este estudo procura também contribuir para o desenvolvimento de uma área de estudo, a do futebol, que tem visto o seu interesse aumentado nos últimos anos, e sobre uma temática específica, a sua caracterização como fenómeno social, que tem o particular interesse de estar em constante afirmação. Verificar-se-á que efetivamente o futebol pode assumir o papel de ator e fator preponderante nas relações internacionais, quer como catalisador de tensões já existentes, quer como elemento importante na política externa de um país. Será possível concluir também que é provável o futebol agir como elemento agregador de uma sociedade, seja por se manifestar por intermédio de mecanismos de empatia, ou por admiração de uma figura, ou como elemento desagregador, devido à capacidade mediática e à dimensão social que a modalidade adquiriu.

The present work has the football as an object of study, placing it on a multinational and international level, covering several aspects, social, political and historical, in a period covered from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. This study will contemplate, among others, two antagonistic but complementary roles, generally considered to be played by football: the key element of the sport in the aggregation or disaggregation of society, and the sport as a preponderant actor in the international and diplomatic relations of several countries. Along with this intention, this study also seeks to contribute to the development of the area of study that has seen its interest increased in the past few years, and to the thematic of football’s characterization as a social phenomenon, which has the particular interest to be in constant affirmation. It will be established that football can be a determinant agent and factor in international relations, both as a catalyst for already existent tensions and as an important element in a country's foreign policy. It will algo be plausible to conclude that football is likely to act as an aggregating element of a society, either because it manifests itself through mechanisms of empathy, or through admiration of a figure; or as a disaggregating element, due to the mediatic capacity and the social dimension that the modality acquired.
