Análise das representações sociais da imprensa portuguesa em relação à produção de energia solar fotovoltaica em Portugal

Abstract

A análise desta dissertação parte de um fenómeno muito importante que a literatura tem vindo a estudar, de que muitas vezes as pessoas no geral concordam ou aceitam as energias renováveis, mas quando se trata de infraestruturas especificas as pessoas muitas vezes se opõem. Por esta razão, a participação do público torna-se fundamental no processo de aceitação social destas infraestruturas.

Dada a escassez de estudos em Portugal (mesmo com a sua alta taxa de insolação), que analisam as representações da imprensa portuguesa de uma maneira geral e especificamente em relação à produção da energia solar fotovoltaica, o presente trabalho propôs-se a analisar que representações sociais de dois jornais portugueses - o Público e o Correio da Manhã – transmitem sobre a produção da energia solar fotovoltaica em Portugal.

O objetivo geral deste estudo é contribuir para uma compreensão das ideias e práticas nomeadamente da imprensa escrita portuguesa. A análise temática foi orientada tendo em conta o papel da imprensa como reflexo e influenciadora da opinião pública, onde foram analisados 55 artigos.

Os resultados mostram que as atitudes e os impactos do Público e do Correio da Manhã eram na maioria positivas. Contudo, as questões sobre os outros factores psicossociais propostos foram debatidas com escassez de problematização, os artigos dos jornais apresentavam défice nas diferentes representações, davam voz apenas aos governos e em alguns casos as empresas, e como não davam voz aos cidadãos, e nem as comunidades locais, não debatiam questões ligadas a justiça processual e distributiva.

The analysis of this dissertation starts from a very important phenomenon that the literature has been studying, that often people generally agree or accept renewable energies, but when it comes to specific infrastructures people often oppose. For this reason, the participation of the public becomes fundamental in the process of social acceptance of these infrastructures. Given the scarcity of studies in Portugal (even with its high insolation rate), which analyze the representations of the Portuguese press in a general way and specifically in relation to the production of photovoltaic solar energy, the present work has proposed to analyze which are the social representations of two Portuguese newspapers - Público and Correio da Manhã - on the production of photovoltaic solar energy in Portugal. The general objective of this study is to contribute to an understanding of the ideas and practices, especially of the Portuguese written press. The thematic analysis was guided by the role of the press as a reflection and influence of public opinion, where 55 articles were analyzed. The results show that the attitudes and impacts of Público and Correio da Manhã were mostly positive. However, questions about the other proposed psychosocial factors were debated with scarcity of problematization, newspaper articles were deficient in the different representations, gave voice only to governments and in some cases to companies, and as they did not give voice to citizens, nor local communities, did not discuss issues related to procedural and distributive justice.
