Política linguística na televisão: O caso "Bom dia Angola"

Abstract

A diversidade de línguas faladas em Angola e a sua representação no medium televisão é o principal motivador deste trabalho. Assim, o presente texto gira em torno das políticas linguísticas na televisão e partiu da hipótese de que o programa de informação “Bom Dia Angola” é um reflexo das políticas linguísticas vigentes no país. A pesquisa, em termos de metodologia, é de caráter quali-quantitativo, ou seja, adotou-se uma metodologia mista. Para melhor compreensão da unidade de análise privilegiou-se o estudo de caso intensivo como método investigativo. Nesta dissertação explorou-se conceitos como: multiculturalismo, plurilinguismo, política linguística, agenda setting e serviço público de televisão para demonstrar como se processa a comunicação plurilingue no programa “Bom Dia Angola” do canal principal de televisão do país, TPA 1, e, ao mesmo tempo, perceber se ela ocorre à luz das políticas vigentes na região. Verificou-se que há uma diferença de tempo, tema e gênero jornalísticos entre as línguas africanas de Angola e a língua portuguesa. Tal facto põe em causa a integridade de um serviço público que se quer comprometido com a satisfação de todos e que assegure tanto os direitos da maioria como das minorias. Com base nos resultados, concluiu-se que por privilegiar a língua portuguesa, o “Bom Dia Angola” é um reflexo das políticas linguísticas vigentes no país e, como tal, remete as línguas africanas de Angola para papéis meramente secundários.

The diversity of languages spoken in Angola and its representation in medium television is the main motivator of this work. Thus, the present text revolves around the linguistic policies in television and started from the hypothesis that the information program "Bom Dia Angola" is a reflection of the language policies in force in the country. The research, in terms of methodology, is qualitative-quantitative, that is, a mixed methodology was adopted. For a better understanding of the unit of analysis, the intensive case study as an investigative method was favored. In this dissertation we explored concepts such as: multiculturalism, plurilingualism, linguistic politics, agenda setting and public television service to demonstrate how multilingual communication is processed in the "Bom Dia Angola" program of the country's main television channel, TPA 1, at the same time, to see if it occurs in the light of current policies in the region. It was verified that there is a difference of time, theme and journalistic genre between the African languages of Angola and the Portuguese language. This undermines the integrity of a public service which is committed to the satisfaction of all and which ensures both the rights of the majority and of minorities. Based on the results, it was concluded that because it privileges the Portuguese language, "Bom Dia Angola" is a reflection of the language policies in force in the country and, as such, refers the African languages of Angola to merely secondary roles.
