A topografia como elemento arquitectónico.

Abstract

O terreno para além de base de suporte para um edifício pode também ser arquitectura. A topografia pode-se constituir como elemento arquitectónico, importante para a concepção do projecto. Um projecto de arquitectura envolve-se na manipulação da topografia. A forma como se interpreta e integra a topografia na relação com o edifício é que é distinta, em diferentes casos e contextos. Este estudo procura perceber as várias aproximações existentes entre a relação da topografia e o edifício. Abordam-se também as características que resultam dessa aproximação, na procura de entender se a relação entre a topografia e o edifício é um factor determinante para o projecto de arquitectura. Mais do que um objecto arquitectónico sobreposto ao suporte físico do projecto, o edifício pode estabelecer uma relação de mútua influência. Se por um lado o projecto de um edifício pode ser condicionado pelo terreno existente, por outro, o terreno pode ser transformado pelo desenvolvimento do projecto. No desenvolvimento do trabalho pretende-se perceber como se traduz a expressão dos edifícios que surgem numa estreita relação com a topografia, como forma de integração na paisagem. Focando casos de estudo portugueses, identificam-se diferentes posturas em relação à topografia como elemento comum. Reconhece-se também, um desejo de pertencer ao lugar, de estabelecer uma estreita relação com o sítio, procurando no terreno a sua configuração, expressão e materialidade. Pretende-se identificar em que se traduz a singularidade arquitectónica do edifício na relação com o lugar, onde o terreno e a paisagem conformam e diluem os limites construtivos entre ambos

The land beyond the support base for a building can also be architecture. The topography can constitute an important architectural element for the design of the project. An architectural project becomes involved in the manipulation of topography. The way we interpret and integrate the topography is what differs in different cases and contexts. This study attempts to understand the several existing links between the relationship of topography and the building. It also refers the characteristics that result from this approach, seeking to understand if the relationship between topography and the building is a key factor in the architectural project. More than an architectural object superimposed on the physical support, the building can establish a relationship of mutual influence. In one hand the design of a building can be conditioned by the existing ground, in the other hand the land can be transformed by the development of the project. During the developing of this work we intend to understand how is translated the expression of the buildings that appear in a close relationship with the form of integration into the landscape. Focusing on Portuguese case studies, it is identified different postures in relation to topography as a common element. It is identified a desire to belong to the place, establishing a close relationship to the site, looking on the building sit its setup, expression and materiality. The aim is to identify which translates this unique architecture of the building in relation to the place where the land and the landscape conform and dilute the constructive boundaries between them.
