| dc.description.abstract | This study explores how music artists influence the perception of coolness in fashion brands they endorse and how that influence affects consumers’ emotional connection and behavioral intentions. Based on McCracken’s (1989) Meaning Transfer Theory and the Brand Coolness construct (Warren et al., 2019), the study proposes a conceptual model including Artist Familiarity as a moderator and the mediating roles of Self-Brand Connections and Brand Engagement in generating Positive Word-of-Mouth. A two-stage experimental survey was conducted with 316 participants, comparing AIgenerated neutral models with real celebrity endorsements by music artists (Dua Lipa or Selena Gomez) who have collaborated with the fashion brand Puma. Results show that music-artist endorsements significantly increase perceived Brand Coolness via meaning transfer, which then strengthens emotional aiachment and engagement with the brand, leading to higher Positive Word-of-Mouth intentions. Artist Familiarity acts as a moderator in the first relationship: when the artist is recognized, the endorsement’s effect on perceived coolness is stronger and less dependent on previous brand ajtudes. These findings highlight the key role of music artists as cultural transmitters that transfer symbolic meaning and coolness traits to brands, providing new insight into how human aiributes influence brands within the fashion industry. | |
