The rise of unemployment and the precarization of work in Portugal have brought, as consequence, deep changes in the social fabric. These changes are reflected in the increase of the cooperation in groups like family and friends, or through the interaction between individuals and support institutions. There are also indicators that reveal a growth of parallel economies and informal networks of support. The same is observed in the group that constitutes the undocumented migrations. To be an undocumented is to live in a dualist system, together with legality, but also benefiting from networks of support. This research began four years ago through the contact with people from immigrant communities. Since then I have come to realize problems that are common to the whole immigration phenomenon. In the narratives of the immigrant communities, illegality is the source of many limitations and disadvantages, which are not positive factors for their integration in the Portuguese society. If the State does not support them, who does? And how? How do these people live?por
