| dc.description.abstract | The COVID-19 pandemic normalised remote work, accelerating the growth of digital nomadism and increasing the importance of destination social infrastructures in supporting mobile remote workers. While digital nomads rely on these infrastructures to meet their living, working, and social needs, little is known about how they influence intention to revisit a destination. This study examines how the extent to which these needs are met through destination social infrastructures, particularly coliving spaces, shapes digital nomads’ revisit intention. Data were collected through an online questionnaire administered to digital nomads, yielding a sample of 50 respondents from different regions around the world. The data were analysed using fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) to examine how combinations of fulfilled and unfulfilled living, working, and social needs supported by destination social infrastructures and coliving spaces relate to high and low revisit intention. The findings reveal a hierarchical structure in the relevance of destination social infrastructures. Living and working dimension of social infrastructures form the foundations of high revisit intention by fostering comfort, home-like feelings, productivity, and routine. The social dimension, by contrast, is not required to generate high revisit intention but becomes relevant once functional needs are satisfied and deeper emotional belonging is sought. Coliving spaces do not act as universal attachment mechanisms, as their influence depends on how well they align with different digital nomad segments. The results suggest that policymakers and national tourism organisations (NTOs) should prioritise housing and work-related infrastructures, while coliving operators should adopt segmentation strategies aligned with different nomad expectations. | |
