| dc.description.abstract | The increasing interest in human–companion animal interactions (HCAI) in the workplace has fostered the adoption of pet-friendly organizational policies, although empirical evidence regarding their effects remains scarce. Grounded in Affective Events Theory, this study advances the proposition that HCAI operate as affective micro-events capable of eliciting positive emotions, which subsequently enhance job satisfaction and creativity. Data were collected from a sample of 284 employees across diverse sectors, and the hypotheses were tested through structural equation modeling. The findings confirmed the mediating role of positive emotions in the relationship between HCAI and both creativity and job satisfaction. These results contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms and boundary conditions through which interactions with companion animals influence workplace outcomes, suggesting that pet-friendly initiatives, particularly when combined with flexible work arrangements, may foster more satisfying, creative, and healthy organizational environments. | |
