| dc.description.abstract | In Euro area countries fiscal policy plays a central role in the stabilization of business cycles mainly because monetary policy is defined for the whole area. A small open economy model is employed to assess the consequences of government expenditure shocks. The main novelty of this thesis is the inclusion of non-separable preferences between private consumption and government expenditure. Numerical simulation suggests that fiscal policy is more e↵ective in a fixed exchange regime. In this regime, fiscal multipliers reach 1.6% on impact and 1% in the long-run.
