Lisboa e o rio: Uma escola à beira Tejo

Abstract

Lisboa fundou-se do rio e do rio deu a conhecer o Mundo. A simbiose perfeita durante milénios entre a água e a terra, que começa com a chegada dos fenícios e acaba com a construção dos aterros para fins portuários, nos finais do século XIX. A ancestral relação entre a cidade consolidada e o rio, distancia-se com a conceção de grandes avenidas e linhas ferroviárias que criam uma barreira entre o Homem e o Tejo. No final do século XX, a evolução das tecnologias permitiu gerar concorrência aérea e rodoviária, às trocas comerciais marítimas que levaram à desativação de algumas zonas portuárias. O aterro da Boavista tornou-se numa zona em degradação, descontinuada da restante Lisboa e expectante a uma nova conexão entre a cidade e o rio. O presente trabalho entrega-se à reflexão da frente ribeirinha de Lisboa, como fundamento para o desenvolvimento do projeto de arquitetura, inserido na frente de rio de Santos. Neste sentido, esta intervenção pretende revitalizar a cidade e a sua relação com o rio através da multiplicidade de usos, pelo meio de banhos, espaço público permeável e educação. Lisboa nasceu das águas do Tejo, que sempre foi um elemento essencial para a regeneração da cidade através da sua identidade e vivência sendo que hoje não é exceção.

Lisbon was founded from the river and from the river it made the world known. The perfect symbiosis for millennia between water and land, which begins with the arrival of the Phoenicians and ends with the construction of embankments for port purposes in the late nineteenth century. The ancestral relationship between the Consolidated city and the river is distanced with the design of large avenues and railway lines that create a barrier between man and the Tagus. At the end of the 20th century, the evolution of technologies allowed for air and road competition, to maritime commercial exchanges that led to the deactivation of some port areas. The Boavista embankment became an area in degradation, discontinued from the rest of Lisbon and waiting for a new connection between the city and the river. The present work surrenders to the reflection of Lisbon's riverfront, as a basis for the development of the architectural project, inserted in the Santos riverfront. In this sense, this intervention intends to revitalize the city and its relationship with the river through the multiplicity of uses, through bathing, permeable public space and education. Lisbon was born from the waters of the Tagus, which has always been an essential element for the regeneration of the city through its identity and experience, and today is no exception.
