For about 50 years we have been talking about gender equality in society and in the labor market, especially in developed countries. Despite the achievements in various fields such as education and work, when we observe the composition of the executive team, one of the inequalities that can be noticed is the under-representation of the female managers in the top positions of the organization. The literature has identified several reasons for the existence of unequal opportunities, such as discriminatory organizational practices and gender stereotypes. In 1973, Schein in her study concluded that both men and women consider that a successful manager possesses characteristics of a man. Thus, the image of the manager is linked to the male gender and to this stereotype she designated Think Manager – Think Male. To verify whether this perception that men are better managers is present in the cognitions of college students, we decided to replicate Schein's original study. Thus, the main objective is to verify to what extent the stereotype Think Manager – Think Male persists in the cognitions of the future generation of managers in Portugal. The methodology used was an online questionnaire survey through the Qualtrics platform. The results showed two stereotypes: the stereotype Think Manager - Think Male was visible among male students and the stereotype Think Manager – Think Female was observed among female students. This study can contribute to the academic environment and provide knowledge about the TMTM stereotype among Portuguese students.por
