| dc.description.abstract | Artificial intelligence is increasingly being integrated into marketing, and LLMs are actively used to create content, analyse markets, and develop marketing strategies. However, recent research shows that LLMs represent biases, which raises questions about their reliability as tools for working with brands. This study, therefore investigates whether and how, LLM’s replications of brand stereotypes are influenced by the stereotypes about their country of origin and how these affect brand attitudes. The research is based on 650 responses generated by six LLMs and uses the PLS-SEM method to test hypotheses. The conceptual model was based on the SCM framework and the study by Diamantopoulos et al. (2021), which discovered these patterns. The results confirmed that LLMs reproduce warmth-related stereotype transfers, but the transfer of competence only occurs if the brand is highly typical for the country. The result suggests that LLMs selectively replicate stereotype mechanisms rather than fully mirroring human patterns. This demonstrates a partial external validity of the SCM in LLMs, extending the study of stereotype transfer. The results imply that LLMs may overemphasize warmth and grant competence advantages to highly typical brands, which can shape how models generate insights for reputation analysis, positioning, and content creation. | |
