Referred to two historical processes - Sao Tome and Principe and Cape Verde -, this text is an exploratory reflection on the interrelationship between cultural constructs – the identities - and the vicissitudes of history and politics. What is the political, social and other values of identities? Following more closely the case of Sao Tome and Principe, we will draw to the Cape Verde to analyze the political value of these constructs, which is not, far from it, universal and unrestricted, instead of what is suggested by its entering the politicized discourse after the end of the intense ideological battle of decades ago. |
