“Si canua kan’kadja nona tchiga”. Trajectórias, experiências e narrativas pessoais no presente migratório

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa a trajectórias e experiências do presente migratório de três sujeitos originários da Guiné-Bissau. As suas experiências presentes são marcadas por um processo de exclusão particular. N´Duba Nhaga, Gastão Correia e João Correia, no início das suas trajectórias, habitam um bairro de casas de auto-construídas, alvo de um programa de intervenção que visa a erradicação deste espaço residencial e o realojamento dos moradores em bairros de habitação social. Nem todos os moradores tiveram direito ao realojamento, entre os quais estes três sujeitos. A partir desta experiência de exclusão, estes indivíduos procuram contrariar estes sentidos de marginalidade através da sua participação política numa Comissão de Moradores. A percepção da exclusão leva os sujeitos a questionarem os sentidos da experiência migratória, mas o engajamento político permite aos sujeitos contrariar estes significados através de processos de reconstrução e negociação identitária que valorizam as suas experiências pessoais. A experiência migratória é aqui analisada a partir de narrativas biográficas dos sujeitos. Através das narrativas pessoais eles contextualizam a sua trajectória migrante num sistema de relações sociais mais amplo que molda as suas percepções, entendimentos e interpretações sobre o presente, perspectivando o desenrolar das suas vidas futuras. Uma outra marca analítica que atravessa todo o trabalho é a perspectiva do transnacionalismo que permite entender como os sujeitos migrantes tomam acções e decisões, sentem preocupações, e constroem campos sociais que os conectam à sociedade de origem e à sociedade de estabelecimento, tornando-se actores e agentes de mudança em diferentes sociedades.

This thesis analyses the migrant trajectories and experiences of three individuals from Guinea Bissau. Their present experiences in Portugal were marked by a particular process of exclusion. N´Duba Nhaga, Gastão Correia and João Correia lived in a neighbourhood of self built houses that was target of a state intervention program that aims eradicate this residential space and lodge their inhabitants in a neighbourhood of state buildings. A significant number of persons didn’t have the right to be lodged in the new neighbourhoods, and among them these tree men. These individuals involved themselves politically in an organizational movement that tried to go against the senses of marginality that the process of exclusion generated in their lives. The perception of exclusion lead them to question the migrant experience, but the political engagement allowed them to undermine the meanings of exclusion through the process of reconstruction and negotiation their identities valuing the personal experiences. In this work the migratory experiences is also analysed by the biography narratives of this three individuals. Through the personal narratives, they contextualize their migrant trajectory in a wider social system of relations that shapes their perceptions, understandings and interpretations of the present, putting the unfolding of the future lives into perspective. Another analytical framework that crosses this whole thesis is the perspective of transnationalism that allows us to understand that migrants take actions, make decisions, and feel concerns, and build social fields that link together their country of origin and their country of settlement, becoming actors and agents of change in different societies.
