Consumer’s decision-making is mostly approached by marketing and advertising domains. This study focuses rather on the influence of human resources (HR) practices on purchase intention that will determine consumer’s decision about where to invest, attending certain conditions, such as interest rates. Built upon this innovative perspective, the data was obtained from 252 students attending the Management Bachelor degree and their decision of investment accessed between two Portuguese banks, represented by two HR practices, with positive or negative effects, and presented as real news. Results show that regardless of the HR practice the bank is associated to, in general participants decide for the one which is more profitable to them. However, when the news is addressed to the in-group, participants decide for the bank with the HR practice by which they identify more, besides being less profitable to them. The findings demonstrate the necessity to approach other HR practices in different sectors of activity, in order to confirm the same consumer behavior. |
