The technical professional education has been differentiated from the secondary education by its functional character and reproduction of the social class structures (Bourdieu and Passeron, 1964 and 1979; Martins, 2005). This research, conducted in two schools at the 2 nd cycle at Huíla province, on one hand, tries to know the social origin and the scholar trajectory of the young people who attend the two subsystems of education. On the other hand, it indentifies their academic and professional expectations. The collected data reveals that most of the students belonging to both subsystems of education come from families with high cultural and economic resources. Pupils of general secondary education have educational trajectories marked by school success and those in technical professional education have routes marked by retentions. However, a significant proportion of students of both subsystems aspire to carry on studies and enter the labor market simultaneously. |
