Graffiti: práticas, estilos e estéticas de uma identidade cultural

Abstract

O presente ensaio visa analisar os movimentos sociais ligados à arte urbana, procurando identificar os traços identitários dos artistas de rua, as estruturas em que se inserem e as configurações e hierarquias inseridas nesse contexto. A expansão das abordagens e dos espaços de inserção dos graffiti é também um tema central de análise, a partir de uma reconstrução histórica das configurações desta forma de arte, desde o vandalismo até ao seu reconhecimento como arte neoexpressionista, personalizando o debate na comunidade em torno da definição de writer, variável entre o artista legal e o ilegal.

This essay aims to analyze the social movements associated to urban art, searching for the identity features of the street artists, the structures in which they operate and the settings and hierarchies embedded in this context. The expansion of approaches and areas of insertion of the graffiti is also a central theme of analysis, from a historical reconstruction of the settings of this art form, from vandalism to its recognition as art neo-expressionist, personalizing the debate in the community over the definition of writer, a variable notion between legal and illegal.
