Voluntariados internacionais de curta duração

Abstract

Ao longo das décadas, o voluntariado internacional tem ganho uma maior procura, destacando- se a faixa etária dos jovens adultos, sendo deste modo, um tema que desperta alguma curiosidade relativamente ao fenómeno. A presente investigação, foca-se no voluntariado internacional pago de curta duração nos PALOP (Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa), realizado através de organizações sediadas em Portugal. Todavia, o voluntariado apresenta-se de formas diferentes, variando as motivações e até mesmo os impactos. O voluntariado, reconhecido legalmente na Europa e em particular em Portugal, é visto como um recurso humano que permite o funcionamento e contribui para o desenvolvimento de organizações locais e comunidades. O voluntariado em Portugal tem vindo a ganhar maior importância, resultando numa maior procura e na criação e implementação de novos projetos, não só a nível nacional como além-fronteiras, nomeadamente nos países lusófonos. Desta forma, realizou-se este estudo no âmbito de compreender quais as motivações e os efeitos do voluntariado, tanto a nível pessoal como a nível local, que desperta sobretudo a população ainda em idade jovem. Com o desenvolvimento deste estudo, torna-se possível perceber quais as motivações e os desafios enfrentados no terreno, analisando-se as consequências que este tipo de programas de voluntariado pode ter no público-alvo. Este estudo, foi realizado contando com o testemunho de 16 jovens adultos, que foram voluntários nos PALOP durante um período máximo de um mês, tendo realizado este voluntariado com organizações portuguesas, foram entrevistadas 4 organizações escolhidas por estes voluntários para realizarem a sua atividade de voluntariado internacional. Na parte final deste estudo, é apresentada uma análise de resultados mais detalhada, terminando com uma reflexão final com os resultados obtidos.

Over the decades, international volunteering has become more popular, especially among young adults, and it is therefore a topic that arouses some curiosity. This research focus on short-term paid international volunteering in the PALOP, carried out through Portugal based organizations. However, volunteering comes in different forms, with various motivations and even impacts Volunteering, legally recognized in Europe and particularly in Portugal, is seen as a human resource that allows local organizations and communities to function and contribute to their development. Volunteering in Portugal has become increasingly important, resulting in greater demand and the creation and implementation of new projects, not only nationally but also across borders, particularly in Lusophone countries. This study was thus carried out to understand the motivations and effects of volunteering, both on a personal level and on a local level, which mainly attracts young people. With the development of this study, it is possible to understand the motivations and challenges faced on the ground, analyzing the consequences that this type of volunteer program can have on the target audience. This research was carried out with the testimony of 16 young adults who volunteered in the PALOP for a maximum period of one month, having done this volunteering with organizations. 4 organizations chosen by these volunteers to carry out their international volunteering activity were interviewed. In the final part of this study, a more detailed analysis of the results is presented, ending with a final reflection on the results obtained.
