| Abstract: | This contribution is a narrative text written by an anthropologist who, after years researching and lecturing in Ethiopia, has now devoted himself to managing refugee shelter in Hamburg (at Fördern und Wohnen AöR). The text reconstitutes his personal memories and his growing involvement with this cause, in the early and hectic period of the 2015 German humanitarian response to the incoming flow of people fleeing conflict and disaster in the Middle East and Africa. |
