dc.description.abstract | The music industry suffered a digital revolution that culminated with the absolute dominance of streaming services, which have changed music consumption habits, offering constant access to music and a sea full of options. Thus, understanding what makes music consumers’ loyal to their preferred artists when so much choice is available becomes a pressing issue. Additionally, with this digital shift both popular and less popular artists are now present in the same platforms and have similar possibilities to foster loyalty. Nonetheless, there is scant literature regarding brand loyalty towards music artists. Hence, the present research aims at filling this research gap by investigating determinants of attitudinal loyalty, and the transition from attitudinal to behavioral loyalty within the industry. In addition, this research delves into the differences that arise in the influence of loyalty predictors between popular and less popular artists. Data collection and analysis were conducted through quantitative methods using an online questionnaire based on relevant literature on the topic. Findings reveal that Brand Coolness, Perceived Sense of Brand Community, Perceived Quality and Perceived Social value predict attitudinal loyalty towards music artists, which subsequently influences behavioral loyalty. Nonetheless, the significance of Brand Coolness and Perceived Social Value varies based on artist popularity, revealing its moderator role. Hence, Brand Coolness was a stronger predictor for not popular artists and Perceived Social Value was a stronger predictor for popular artists. Finally, this study evidences the need for musicians and managers to invest on amplifying loyalty from the fans, through these predictors.
