Corredor verde azul de biodiversidade como estratégia ecológica: o Vale da Figueira em São João da Talha

Abstract

O crescimento urbano desenfreado tem vindo a causar a fragmentação dos ecossistemas naturais e respetivos habitats, com consequências ao nível da biodiversidade, degradação ambiental e disponibilidade de recursos naturais. Torna-se imperativo, focarmo-nos num planeamento que privilegia a valorização dos recursos naturais e contribui para a conservação de ecossistemas saudáveis e funcionais. Este trabalho apresenta como estratégia de planeamento territorial, o corredor Verde Azul de biodiversidade, no Vale da Figueira, em Loures. É concebido como elemento estruturante e de articulação entre as áreas urbanas e rurais, agregado a estratégias sustentáveis de desenvolvimento local. Pretende-se um planeamento integrado ao ciclo hidrológico, de forma a promover o conceito de continuum naturale e preservar a biodiversidade dos ecossistemas. Conectam-se os espaços de agricultura familiar existentes, na prática - as hortas - em solo rural e urbano e os espaços naturais circundantes, de forma a responder às necessidades da população e do território. Pretende-se valorizar as cabeceiras das linhas de água, com vista, a amenizar os riscos de poluição do solo, aproveitamento dos recursos hídricos e do ar, permitindo uma melhoria da qualidade de vida da população local. As hortas, juntamente com o centro de compostagem assumem um papel estratégico no planeamento do corredor Verde Azul de biodiversidade, uma vez que contribuem para o desenvolvimento sustentável contínuo produtivo, dos ecossistemas naturais e do sistema alimentar da comunidade local. Neste sentido, devem ser considerados como uma importante ferramenta, no ordenamento e gestão do território.

Uncontrolled urban growth engenders the fragmentation of natural ecosystems and their habitats, with consequences in biodiversity, environmental degradation and availability of resources. The sustainable urban planning, based on valorization of natural resources, is fundamental for the preservation of healthy and functional ecosystems. The main strategy for planning and urban management underpinning this work is the project of the Blue Green corridor, in Vale da Figueira, conceived as a element for structuring and jointing urban and rural áreas, combined with sustainable strategies for local development. We propose a territorial planning integrated with the hydrological cycle, in order to promote the concept of continuum naturale and preserve the biodiversity of natural ecosystems. In this study, the existing family farming spaces are connected - the vegetable gardens - in rural and urban sites and the surrounding natural spaces, in order to respond to the needs of the population and the territory. We propose to valorize the water lines at cabeceira, in order to mitigate the risks associated to soil, valorize water and air resources in the territory, while contributing to the improvement in the quality of life of the local population. Vegetable gardens and the Composting structures assume a strategic role in the design and urban planning of the Blue Green corridor, once they contribute to the continuous sustainable development of production, natural ecosystems and the food system of the local community. In this respect, the vegetable gardens should be considered as an important values in the territory planningt and management.
