In recent years women's football has grown more and more, so we see more of its repercussion in the media, broadcasts of matches, creation of championships, children playing in schools and clubs since they were young, but still with disparity regarding the male, and it is the same sport. This increase is due to representativeness, the practice of a sport, taste for the sport, the realization of a dream, and other motivations. But they still go through many difficulties, whether they are due to lack of sponsorship, logistics, abandonment, or support of clubs to create more championships and make women's football more competitive and attractive to all. In this study, we analyze the situation of the modality in Portugal, and in comparison, with nearby countries, also in comparison with other modalities whether collective or individual, to get to the specific point of this work: what motivates young women to play soccer. So, we investigate what are the reasons why they adhere to it, get loyal, and abandon sport in the under-13 age group. In the end, we intend to better understand what happens in reality, from the point of view of those who manage women's football, comparing the authors' view. With this, it is intended to make see problems and solutions for those who are involved with the management of sport so that it makes a more balanced and better-prepared environment to make the level of women's football evolve in Portugal. |
