Gestão estratégica na prevenção de burnout entre professores

Abstract

Este trabalho de projeto tem como objetivos analisar a relação entre as condições de trabalho e a saúde mental dos profissionais docentes, identificar e minimizar o impacto da síndrome de burnout na produtividade e eficácia dos docentes e atuar estrategicamente na prevenção e promoção de saúde mental e bem-estar. Neste contexto, pretende-se desenvolver um estudo de caso, realizado em pesquisa de campo, que incide em três escolas de um agrupamento, situadas no Concelho e na Freguesia de Odivelas. A amostra é constituída por 19 participantes em entrevistas semiestruturadas, até ao critério de saturação da informação, e 29 participantes em questionários, realizados a profissionais docentes dos diferentes níveis de ensino, desde o 1.º Ciclo até ao 3.º Ciclo. Na análise e estruturação dos dados das entrevistas, é utilizada a metodologia de Gioia e, na aplicação do questionário é utilizado o modelo Maslach Burnout Inventory - General Survey (MBI-GS). Os principais resultados observados indicam que existe relação entre a síndrome de burnout e o trabalho docente, devido a vários fatores como falta de reconhecimento; excesso de trabalho; relação com os outros; excesso de burocracia; carga horária; turmas numerosas; aprendizagens dos alunos; confinamento, entre outros. Estas conclusões sustentam a importância da criação de um projeto de intervenção, através de mecanismos de gestão estratégica na prevenção e promoção de saúde mental e bem-estar dos docentes, para diminuir o seu desgaste emocional e causar um impacto positivo nos resultados do Projeto Educativo e dos alunos.

This project work aims to analyze the relationship between working conditions and the mental health of teaching professionals, to identify and minimize the impact of burnout syndrome on the productivity and effectiveness of teachers and to act strategically in the prevention and promotion of mental health and well-being. In this context, we intend to develop a case study, carried out in field research, which focuses on three schools of a group, located in the Municipality and in the Parish of Odivelas. The sample consists of 19 participants in semi-structured interviews, up to the criterion of information saturation, and 29 participants in questionnaires, carried out with teaching professionals at different levels of education, from the 1st Cycle to the 3rd Cycle. In the analysis and structuring of the data from the interviews, Gioia's methodology is used and, in the application of the questionnaire, the Maslach Burnout Inventory – General Survey (MBI-GS) model is used. The main results observed indicate that there is a relationship between the burnout syndrome and teaching work, due to several factors, such as lack of recognition; excess of work; relationship with others; excessive bureaucracy; workload; large classes; student learning; confinement, among others. These conclusions support the importance of creating an intervention project, through strategic management mechanisms in the prevention and promotion of mental health and well-being of teachers, to reduce their emotional exhaustion and have a positive impact on the results of the Educational Project and from the students.
