Sociedades de capital de risco em Moçambique

Abstract

O texto constitui uma síntese do estudo realizado ao longo de três anos sobre a actividade de capital de risco em Moçambique, que teve como objectivo central a avaliação da forma de actuação das Sociedades de Capital de Risco (SCR) locais. O estudo teve por base investigações anteriormente realizadas em Portugal e na África do Sul, mas alargou o âmbito daquelas ao considerar a envolvente contextual da actividade. Os resultados apontam para uma envolvente contextual pouco propícia ao desenvolvimento da actividade de capital de risco e para a existência de uma evolução significativa da política de intervenção das SCR ao longo do estudo. Entre outros aspectos, o estudo revela que foi necessária uma política de maior flexibilidade por parte das SCR locais, mas sem a adopção de modelos presentes em outros países menos desenvolvidos.

The text constitutes a synthesis of a study that analysed in a comprehensive way the venture capital activity in Mozambique over three years. The central aim of the study was to evaluate if the local Venture Capital firms (VCs) performed their activities following the classical model or if there was an adjustment of their proceedings in response to specific aspects of a less developed economy. The study was based in previous investigations carried out in Portugal and in South Africa, but it enlarged their scope when considering the industry environmental context. The results observed the existence of a not so favourable environmental context for the industry growth and a significant evolution in the policy followed by the VCs. Amongst other aspects, the study suggested that the VCs embraced a more flexible approach, without, however, this meaning the adoption of models applied in less developed countries.
