Abstract: This paper stress the relationship between informal economy (travail de noir) and the international labour standars-ILS, as much as they had been fixed by the International Labour Organization. Based on field research, done in Dakar, last July, I´ll show how the urban working class in Dakar, through out three different cases, has been able to build up its owns social security systems, in spite of all the hurdles that an extremely hostile environment due to the Government , Formal Trade Unions and Employers´ Associations actions, have laid down. That is, from the incapacity of the African modern states to provide decent Works for their population, following convention 102 (1952) of the International Labour Organisation, these workers are carrying out its own ways to find decent, profitable and durable jobs out of formal economy. In doing so, they also reduce their chances to fall down into vulnerability or setting aside in the slums of the history.
