Os fatores que determinam a oferta e a procura do currículo "International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme" em Portugal

Abstract

A educação internacional é um fenómeno global. Em Portugal esta realidade também está presente e nos últimos anos tem-se multiplicado o número de escolas internacionais que lecionam currículos diferentes do nacional, na grande maioria em língua inglesa, em particular na região do Porto, de Lisboa e do Algarve. Se por um lado Portugal está na moda, o que trouxe muitos estrangeiros a estabeleceremse no território português, também há um número crescente de famílias portuguesas a procurar este tipo de ensino, com o objetivo de prepara melhor os filhos para os desafios do mundo atual. Um dos currículos internacionais com maior expressão é o International Baccalauretate Diploma Programme, oferecido em mais de 120 países, em escolas públicas e em escolas privadas. A pesquisa realizada no âmbito deste trabalho foi efetuada numa escola internacional da grande Lisboa, que tem cerca de 10% dos alunos que frequentam este currículo em Portugal. A pesquisa centra-se no "porquê" e "para quem" da instituição e no "porquê" e "para quê" dos alunos e famílias.

International education is a global phenomenon. In Portugal this reality is also present and in recent years the number of international schools that teach other curriculum than the national one has multiplied, mostly those in English, in particular on the region of Porto, Lisboa and Algarve. If, on one hand, Portugal is "fashion", which has brought many foreigners to settle in Portuguese territory, there is also an increasing number of families looking for this kind of education, with the aim of better preparing their children for the challenges of now days. One of the most significant international curriculum is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, offered in more than 120 countries, in public and private schools. The research carried out within the scope of this work was made in an international school around Lisboa, which has about 10% of the students who attend this curriculum in Portugal. The research focuses on the "why" and "for whom" of the institution and the "why" and "what for" of students and their families.
