complementado por Stewart Brand no seu livro How Buildings Learn: What Happens
atual. The theme of this investigation is centered on the hypothesis of the integration of the life cycle assessment criteria in the architectural project through the concept of Shearing Layers. The themes approached – the architectural project, the life cycle of architecture and its LCA, shearing layers and the circular economy – justify and inform the universe of the project, as well as the main investigation hypothesis. The architectural project arises from a concept, initially. The concept may be interpreted as an idea, thought or notion that created the basis for the architectural project and that moves through it. Each architectural project must derive from a concept, for this concept is the main cause for the final product that one wants to achieve through the concept. The concept is to the project like a root is to a tree. The LCA, specifically, of buildings, is the conglomerate of all the phases that lead to the event of the idealized result. Each phase includes specific guidelines, that help plan the ordeal in a more controlled and efficient matter, in terms of management. The concept of Shearing Layers was thought of by Frank Duffy, and then further developed by Stewart Brand in his book How Buildings Learn: What Happens After They’re Built, where one of the conclusions was that building don’t share in the same assumption of eternity that architecture does – it’s actually quite the opposite, buildings are scarred by the passing of time and the influence of the architecture considered modern or trendy. |
