Precariedade laboral: um estudo sobre os jovens imigrantes brasileiros em Portugal

Abstract

Considerando o presente contexto de crise estrutural do capitalismo e as consequências a diversos níveis que atingem a classe trabalhadora e o entendimento que a precariedade não é um elemento novo e nem particular dessa estrutura, o presente estudo refere-se à inserção dos jovens imigrantes brasileiros no mercado de trabalho em Portugal. Pretendemos avaliar de que forma e sob quais condições esses indivíduos estão sendo inseridos no mercado de trabalho português e se as suas qualificações escolares e motivações para o processo de migração para Portugal os afastam da precariedade e de forma a considerar se conseguem a inserção em empregos que sejam compatíveis à sua área de formação e se esses fatores influenciam para uma condição de acesso a melhores oportunidades e melhores condições de trabalho. Teoricamente, recorremos a uma análise teórica sobre precariedade laboral, juventude e imigração brasileira em Portugal e, metodologicamente, recorremos à pesquisa qualitativa, utilizando a entrevista semiestruturada como técnica de recolha de informação, incidindo em informações acerca das experiências laborais, das motivações para o processo migratório, quais vínculos empregatícios e quais condições estavam submetidos em Portugal e sobre as expetativas para o futuro. Concluímos que os jovens imigrantes brasileiros em Portugal estão predominantemente em condições precárias, tanto a nível de vínculo empregatício como também em relação as condições laborais, independentemente das suas qualificações escolares ou motivação para o processo migratório. Para além disso, também estão sujeitos a humilhações e a preconceitos que fazem com que a condição laboral seja ainda mais precária e com maiores dificuldades de expetativa para um futuro mais estável.

Considering the context of the structural crisis of capitalism and the consequences at various levels that affect the working class, and the understanding that precariousness is not a new or particular element of this structure, the present study refers to the insertion of young Brazilian immigrants in the labour market in Portugal. We intend to evaluate how and under what conditions these individuals are being integrated into the Portugal’s labour market and if their school qualifications and motivations for the migration process keep them away from precariousness, and if they can access to jobs that are compatible with their field of training and if these factors influence a condition of access to better opportunities and better working conditions. Theoretically, we use a theoretical analysis on precariousness, youth and Brazilian immigration to Portugal, and, methodologically, we resorted to qualitative research, using semi-structured interviews as a technique for collecting information, focusing about work experiences, the motivations for the migratory process, which kind of employment contract they have and to what conditions they are submitted in Portugal and about their expectations for the future. We conclude that young Brazilian immigrants in Portugal are predominantly in precarious conditions, both in terms of employment and working conditions, regardless of their school qualifications or motivation for the migration process. In addition, they are also subject to humiliations and prejudices that make working conditions even more precarious and with lower expectations of a more stable future.
