Disablist bullying: O bullying em contexto escolar com crianças/jovens com necessidades especiais

Abstract

A presente investigação pretende caracterizar e definir o conceito de bullying em contexto escolar, em alunos com e sem necessidades especiais. Concretamente pretende corroborar como este fenómeno ocorre em ambos os sexos, em diferentes idades e anos de escolaridade, tal como os papéis assumidos pelos intervenientes do bullying. Para tal, relacionou-se o bullying com a empatia, a autoestima, o bem-estar subjetivo, o suporte social e o ambiente escolar. A amostra é constituída por 306 alunos, do 5º ao 12º ano de escolaridade, de uma escola do distrito de Beja. Apresenta alunos com idades entre os 9 e os 21 anos de idade, a maioria do sexo feminino, com média de idades de M=13.8 (DP=2.53). Da amostra 18% são alunos com necessidades especiais. Em termos gerais, os resultados indicam que existem mais vítimas do que agressores. Estes agressores (bullies) são, maioritariamente do sexo masculino, utilizando na maioria das vezes o bullying físico. Constatou-se igualmente que este é o sexo com maior percentagem de vitimização nos dois últimos meses, sofrendo principalmente bullying físico e verbal. Os alunos com necessidades especiais apresentam maior percentagem de envolvimento no bullying do que os alunos sem necessidades especiais. Os bully utilizam frequentemente o bullying físico, verbal e cyberbullying. O resultado do estudo conduz a uma reflexão do bullying em alunos com e sem necessidades especiais, pois este tema é pouco abordado. Sendo uma oportunidade de explorar melhor a forma de prevenção e intervenção nestes casos.

This research aims to characterize and define the concept of bullying in a high school context, especially students with and without special needs. Specifically, it intends to investigate how this phenomenon occurs in both sexes, at different ages and years of schooling, as well as the roles assumed by bullying actors. To this end, bullying was related to empathy, self-esteem, subjective well-being, social support and the school environment. The sample consists of 306 students, from 5th to 12th grade, from a school in the district of Beja. The students age varied between 9 and 21 years, mostly female, with a mean age of M = 13.8 (SD = 2.53). 18% of the sample are students with special needs. Overall, the results indicate that there are more victims than perpetrators. These bullies are mostly male, most often using physical bullying. It was also found that this is the sex with the highest percentage of victimization in the last two months, suffering mainly physical and verbal bullying. Students with special needs have a higher percentage of bullying involvement than students with no special needs. Bullying often uses physical, verbal and cyberbullying as its means. The result of the study leads to a reflection of bullying in students with and without special needs, because this area of study has been little explored. Being an opportunity to gain more knowledge of the form of prevention and intervention in these cases.
