Organização do trabalho doméstico em casais homossexuais

Abstract

Na tradição dos abundantes estudos sobre a divisão do trabalho doméstico, o sexo dos membros dos casais tem sido recorrentemente apontado como o elemento estruturador por excelência das diferenças da qualidade (tipo de tarefas), quantidade (horas dispendidas), satisfação e avaliação da justiça das tarefas realizadas (Wall e Amâncio, 2007). São essencialmente estudos sobre a forma como a heteronorma e os regimes de género (Connell, 1994) são (re)produzidos na esfera privada, arena privilegiada para tal. O presente paper apresenta algumas conclusões de uma pesquisa levada a cabo junto de casais homossexuais (10 homens, 10 mulheres), a viver juntos há pelo menos um ano e a residir actualmente na Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. Nestes casos, o regime de género ocupa um lugar explicativo necessariamente diferente na negociação da distribuição das tarefas, e nesse sentido o objectivo desta análise foi o de identificar os elementos alternativos determinantes na negociação, em casal, dos direitos e deveres domésticos dos seus membros. Concluiu-se que, tal como nos casais heterossexuais, existem desequilíbrios na divisão das tarefas domésticas, mesmo quando os níveis de escolaridade são elevados. Além disso, os casais entrevistados reconhecem nos casais heterossexuais um maior desequilíbrio na realização das tarefas domésticas.

In the tradition of the studies on the division of the household labour, the sex of the members of the couples are almost always presented as the structuring element, by excellence, of the differences of the quality (type of tasks), quantity (hours spent), satisfactions and evaluation of the justice of the completed tasks (Wall and Amâncio, 2007). These studies are mostly about the way by which the heteronorm and the gender regimes (Connell, 1994) are (re)produced in the private sphere, the privileged arena for such. The present paper presents some of the conclusions of a research carried out with gay and lesbian couples (10 men and 10 women), living together at least for a year and currently living in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. In these cases, the gender regime occupies a very different explanatory position and in that sense the goal of this analysis was to identify what other elements are mobilized for the negotiation, in the couple, of the rights and duties of its members. We have concluded that in homosexual couples, as in the heterosexual ones, there are inequalities in the division of the household labour, even when the qualifications are high. Besides that, the interviewed couples point out the bigger inequality of this division in the heterosexual couples.
