qualificados, outras relações, e a respectiva distribuição do voto partidário.
relação capital-trabalho no comportamento eleitoral. We intend to analyse the actuality of the social classes in the understanding of the party voting. We study the pertinence of the sociological model of electoral behaviour and the importance of the volume and structure of capitals, concepts taken from the contributions of Bourdieu, to the electoral behaviour in legislative elections. The theoretical discussion is mainly centralized around the contributions of Wright, Bourdieu, Inglehardt, and of more specific theorizations about electoral behaviour. To reach that goal, we compare the configurations of the classes structure in the municipalities of the districts of Lisbon and Setubal, chiefly the social class, the structure of the property, the relationship between the owners and non-owners, qualified and not qualified, other relationships, and the respective distribution of the party votation. Looking at the Antonio, Costa and Machado (ACM) class structure pattern, we conclude that entrepreneurs, directors and independent qualified workers and the less qualified employees of the tertiary sector have relatively stable patterns of voting with defined party orientations, probably a class policy. The intellectual and scientific workers and the intermediate technicians, the independent workers and the independent farmers are relatively independent concerning voting. The labourers present a complex vote pattern and several factors contribute to it. People working in the agriculture and living from a salary have no statistical relevance to infer eventual conclusions. What is relevant is the centrality in the class policy of the less qualified employees of the tertiary sector and the centrality of the relationship capital-work in the electoral behaviour. |
