| dc.description.abstract | The rise of social media has made personal branding a vital strategy for professionals, with LinkedIn serving as a central platform for building credibility and trust. At the same time, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT are reshaping content creation by enabling efficiency and scalability. While promising, these technologies raise concerns regarding authenticity, trust, and consumer acceptance. This study investigates the impact of perceived personal brand voice authenticity on personal brand authenticity, and how authenticity in turn shapes perceived personal brand attitude, as well as both positive and negative word of mouth (WOM), emotionality, and loyalty. Type of authorship is further considered as a moderating factor. A conceptual framework was developed and tested through a survey of respondents (n = 141). Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLSSEM). Results show that content generated by artificial intelligence (AI) negatively influences authenticity perceptions, confirming prior research on algorithm aversion. Authenticity emerged as a key driver of consumer responses: it strongly enhanced brand attitude and positive WOM but, when violated, also intensified negative WOM. Subgroup analyses highlighted the role of disclosure and consumer recognition of authorship in shaping outcomes. The study contributes to personal branding literature by integrating AI-authorship into authenticity frameworks and offers practical guidance for balancing efficiency with authenticity in AI-driven content strategies. | |
